What Is Adaptive Riding?

Adaptive Riding utilizes supported skill-instruction that is thoughtfully designed and delivered to meet the life-goals of participants. In adaptive riding, students learn how to effectively communicate with a horse through the use of leg, rein, weigh, voice and artificial aids.

Who Can Ride?

- Must be at least 4 years old.

- Must have a disability documented by a physician.

- Weigh less than 225lbs based on our horse's carrying capacity.

- Must be able to rock that riding helmet for a full 30 minutes.

- Behave in a manner that is safe for self, horses and others.

- Ability to accommodate the movement of the horse without pain.

- Ability to manage behavior for the safety and well-being of horses, staff, volunteers and other riders.

- Prior to riding, all participants must receive an evaluation to review precautions and contraindications and perform a risk/benefit analysis.

- Safe Sport and First Aid/CPR/AED certificated to protect the welfare and safety of our riders and volunteers. Current riders, competitors, horse and barn owners, our instructors don’t just “talk the talk” they “walk the walk” and know the up’s and down’s of riding. Always evolving, they work towards ongoing growth and professional development

Before participating, individuals need to consult with their physician. PATH Intl. Centers require each prospective participant to present a complete medical history and a signed physician’s statement prior to any delivery of services.
